چکیده
A 10-Hz repetition rate, 60-TW peak power, Ti:sapphire laser system was developed for use in experiments where relativistic effects dominate the physics. The temporal, spectral, energy and spatial characteristics of the laser pulses were measured in single shot format. The pulse duration ranged from 22 fs to 25 fs and the pulse energy averaged 1.3 J. Atomic photoionization measurements quantified the peak intensity of the laser pulse in situ. The measurements indicated an intensity of at least 510 19 W/cm 2 was produced.

Attosecond Control of Relativistic Electron Bunches using Two-Colour Fields
Energy coupling during relativistically intense laser-matter interactions is encoded in the attosecond motion of strongly driven electrons at the pre-formed plasma-vacuum boundary. Studying and controlling this motion can reveal details about the microscopic processes that govern a vast array of light-matter interaction physics and applications. These include research areas right at the forefro...
متن کاملTowards manipulating relativistic laser pulses with micro-tube plasma lenses.
Efficient coupling of intense laser pulses to solid-density matter is critical to many applications including ion acceleration for cancer therapy. At relativistic intensities, the focus has been mainly on investigating various laser beams irradiating initially overdense flat interfaces with little or no control over the interaction. Here, we propose a novel approach that leverages recent advanc...

An overview is presented of the status of laser wakefield acceleration research at the l’OASIS laboratory of the Center for Beam Physics at LBNL. Experiments have been performed on laser driven production of relativistic electron beams from plasmas using a high repetition rate (10 Hz), high power (10 TW) Ti:sapphire (0.8 „m ) laser system. Large amplitude plasma waves have been excited in the s...
متن کاملX-ray polarization-dependent measurements of solid-density plasmas generated by fs laser pulses
We report on studies of plasmas, formed by the interaction of 80 fs, 1 J Ti:Sapphire laser pulses with solid matter. The laser intensity was 5 10 W/cm. The Ka1, 2 X-ray emission spectra at z4.5 keV were measured using a toroidally bent GaAs (400) crystal spectrometer with the spectral and spatial resolutions of 0.3 eV and 4 mm, respectively. A Si (220) polarizer was used for determining the pol...

We demonstrate a cryogenically cooled Ti:sapphire ultrafast regenerative amplifier laser system producing >20 μJ energies at 50 kHz, >12 μJ at 200 kHz and >3.5 μJ at 1MHz with repetition rates continuously tunable from 50 kHz up to 1.7 MHz in a footprint of only 60x180 cm². This laser uses down-chirped pulse amplification employing a grism stretcher and a glass-block compressor, achieving sub-6...
